Movie Streaming Service

We are excited to tell you about our favorite streaming service. We are even more excited that we can give you a month of unlimited movies and shows for free! Pure Flix offers a wide variety of clean things to watch in every genre. We even offer a growing list of recommended movies for you to see. Click here to start your free month now!

Shaving Razors

We like using Dollar Shave Club razors because they’re effective, durable, and help the environment by having replaceable blades. Not to mention, they are super inexpensive!  The options may look like razors for men, but we assure you that they remove hair from legs and armpits at least as well as any pink razor ever has. The Dollar Shave Club toiletry options are pretty great, too. Click here to shop or set up a subscription, which you can cancel at any time.

Gift Cards

We know that gift cards are fun to shop with. It’s even better when those gift cards are free! When you sign up for an account with Swagbucks, you can earn points for doing simple things like playing games, taking surveys, or searching the web. You can then use those points for gift cards to places like Amazon, Redbox, restaurants, or even the gas station. Click here to join Swagbucks and start off with $3 for free!

Lodging

Need a getaway before the school year begins? Or maybe a weekend trip to retreat in the fall? No matter where you go, there’s probably an AirBnB nearby. We like renting rooms and houses from AirBnB because they’re unique and often inexpensive. Click here to save $40 off your first AirBnB stay. If you prefer hostels, check out the price comparison tool from the largest database of hostels.

Books

If you have to buy your own school textbooks, our best recommendation is to try to find used ones online. But for personal reading choices, we can point you to FREE books! When you join Tyndale Rewards, you can earn free Christian books, discs, and other gifts for things like posting online or giving your opinion.

Magazine

We couldn’t forget this one! You can always get a 100% free, no-strings-attached subscription to Girlz 4 Christ Magazine. Each issue is packed with devotions, celebrity interviews, beauty tips, book and movie reviews, and so much more. Click here to become a subscriber now!

Whole Wheat Pancakes

Whole Wheat Pancakes
By Natasha Atkerson
Breakfast is a healthy way to start your day! Here’s a healthy recipe for a delicious breakfast treat!
Ingredients:
2 1/2 Cups of whole wheat flour
4 teaspoons of baking powder
1 egg
1 egg white
2 cups of milk or powdered milk. (some powdered milk is fat free and you can’t tell the difference!)
1 teaspoon of salt
2 tablespoons of sugar or 1 tablespoon of honey
Directions:
Whisk flour and baking soda together in a bowl, set aside. In another bowl (large) beat egg, egg white, milk, salt and sugar (or honey). Now dump the flour and baking soda in with the wet ingredients. Whisk until mixed. You may need to add extra water to the recipe-the batter should be substantial enough to “ooze” off the spoon, but not so runny it streams. Grease a skillet or pan, and use a ladle for the batter. The ladle should be almost full. Pour the batter on pan in shape of pancake, making circular motions. The pancake will get bubbly, check to see if you can flip it. Cook until golden brown. Don’t get frustrated if they don’t come out perfect-especially if you haven’t done them before! Practice makes perfect!
Serve with a side of fruit and maybe some potatoes or low fat cottage cheese.

You Were Made to Crave!

We all know the basic rules of health: eat balanced meals, don’t overeat, and try to get some exercise. So why are eating disorders, obesity, and general laziness so common among teen girls today? The answer  is simple: temptation! We give into our cravings for temporary satisfaction, but in the long run, we end up unhappy and unfulfilled.

These cravings from temptation don’t just apply to physical health. Everyone has an unhealthy craving of some sort. Maybe you try to find comfort and satisfaction in having a boyfriend or getting noticed at school. Perhaps you feel empty inside unless you’re constantly shopping for new clothes, make-up, and other luxuries. Whatever physical, material, or emotional desire you have, trying to satisfy yourself with it can keep you from satisfying your desires with God!

A new book is coming out this month, title Made to Crave for Young Women, written by Lysa TerKeurst and Shaunti Feldhahn. In Made to Crave, these two ladies discuss typical unhealthy cravings that many girls tend to have. Using practical advice, life experiences, and scriptures, you can control these cravings by replacing them with cravings for God and the healthy lifestyle that he wants you to live. A great feature about this book is that it really calls you to action. At the end of each session, you can grab your journal and participate in some meaningful activities. This book is also set up so that you can choose to read it as a 21-day devotional, a six-week study, or you can just read it at your own pace.

Prayer, reading the Bible, and simply spending time with Jesus truly can help you make healthier choices that form lifelong habits. If you want a good starting point and guide to satisfying your cravings in a healthy, God-honoring way, go ahead and order yourself a copy of Made to Crave for Young Women.

Discussion Questions (leave your answers in a comment!)
-What craving are you trying to satisfy right now? Remember that food is just one of many cravings you can have!
-Do you plan on reading Made to Crave for Young Women? If so, what parts are you looking forward to? (When you do start reading this book, we’d love to hear about your progress!)

Review: Eco Lips Gold Lip Balm

Eco Lips Gold Lip Balm

‘Tis the season…. for colds, wind, and…chapped lips. I know that I require lip balm at this time of year, but I don’t always like the sickeningly sweet flavors. Plus, it really disturbs me when I can’t even pronounce most of the ingredients on my lip balm. (Just think of all the times you lick your lips and you end up swallowing all those chemicals!) I was so glad when I found what seems to be the perfect lip balm; I’ll be using it this winter and every winter from now on!

Eco Lips is a distributor of all kinds of lip balm. (I also like their Dagoba-flavored, their SPF Lip Care, and their Eco Tints.) Eco Lips Gold’s slogan is “The Ultimate Lip Moisterizer”, and I agree. It is great for so many reasons:
-It’s USDA certified organic
-It’s unflavored. I know that I occaisionally like flavored lip balm, but often times I don’t want to consistently taste Wild Berry Razz Jam on my lips!
-It’s color-free too, so it will match any outfit or makeup scheme.
-It’s non-GMO.
-Have a special diet or food allergies? No worries; it’s gluten-free.
-Cruelty-free. No animals were harmed in the making of this lip balm!
-It’s a great source of Vitamin E, which is really important in improving your skin’s health.
-Made in the USA
-It keeps your lips moisturized for hours, because it includes jojoba oil and other good-for-you ingredients!
-Once you’ve used up the lip balm, you can recycle the tube.

Now, with all these great benefits, there must be some sort of catch, right? Well, I have yet to find any flaws, although the initial price is a little steep: $3.49 for a .15 oz. tube. However, I think it’s definitely worth the price as it is the best lip balm to have ever touched my lips!

Since I like to take this lip balm everywhere, I also got a little accessory for it. Eco Lips also sells this snazzy Eco Lips Carabiners:

For only $1.99, this carabiner can clip your lip balm to virtually anything: belt loop, backpack, purse, keychain…seriously anything! The carabiner is even made from recycled aluminum, so it’s good for the environment AND good for you (because you get to consistently enjoy natural organic lip balm!).

These and more products can be found at EcoLips.com, or possibly at a retailer near you!
