John 3:16, “God loved the people of this world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who has faith in him will have eternal life and never really die.” (CEV)
I first memorized John 3:16 at a young age, when I found it on the back of a little book on my bookshelf. Still a beginning reader, I was wondering why the drawings of children on the front cover were asking “Jesus?” After asking to have it read to me I realized that they weren’t confused about the name Jesus, they were asking me, “Would you like to know Jesus?” The pages that followed explained Jesus’ role in our lives that any age can understand. It even included an example prayer. And it ended with the famous verse, explaining that learning this verse is a good starting point to learn more about Jesus.
Would You Like to Know Jesus? faded from my memory until a couple months ago, when I read that there was a “Would You Like to Know?” Collection releasing soon. The first book’s title caught my attention. Could it really be that booklet that encouraged me to learn John 3:16 so many years ago?
Not only was this life-changing children’s book getting updated and republished, I was impressed that it had now turned into a whole series. Not only are you invited to know Jesus, but know you can know the Bible, God, the story of Easter, the story of Christmas, and how to pray.
These truths apply to anyone of any age. While you could benefit from these easy-to-understand short books, I especially like how they’re compact and can easily be carried around in their little box set. That makes it easy to take along to babysitting gigs, family reunions, and children’s Sunday school classes you can volunteer to read at.
